About the artist

Isabel Bacon

Isabel Bacon is a multidisciplinary artist with a rhythm all her own—a maker of paper cutout collages that hum like jazz riffs, improvising between spirit, story, and form. Her work carries the charm of syncopation: sharp silhouettes softened by soul, playful figures layered with depth. Isabel isn’t just cutting paper—she’s cutting through the surface of things, translating the pulse of people, places, and dreams into tangible poetry.

Raised by the saltwater tides of Ipswich, MA, Isabel moves between wild landscapes and city streets with equal ease, finding lyricism in both solitude and conversation. She delights in the unexpected dialogue with strangers, listening for the melodies hidden in everyday exchange. These encounters, alongside her own spiritual studies and lived experience—sometimes ecstatic, sometimes storm-tossed—become collages of human connection, offerings of what lights us up and ties us together.

Her curiosity for collaboration has led her into many forms of collective creation—projects that invite people into the heart-space, into community, into art as a living conversation. Isabel brings the sacred and the playful into the same room, weaving beloved community from scissors, stories, and song.

Isabel holds a BA in History and Studio Art from Colorado College, an MS Ed. from Bank Street College of Education, and is in her second year of interspiritual seminary at The Thread Interfaith Seminary.
